Is Dust 514 Coming Out in October?

The IGN readers strike again. This time, a news tip has come from Uzair Syed, who linked us to this video from Fox Business. In that video, Sony Computer Entertainment America’s President and CEO Jack Tretton sounds off on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, but it’s something he says about the upcoming PS3-exclusive free-to-play shooter Dust 514 in particular that proves mighty interesting.

When asked about the trend towards cheaper and outright free-to-play games, Tretton notes that PlayStation platforms already have free-to-play titles. “We do have free-to-play games. A game called Dust 514 is a full-blown first-person shooter available on PlayStation 3 that not only allows you to play against your friends on PS3, but also against people on the PC.” When asked for clarification on if it’s “Dust” or “Dusk,” Tretton confirms it’s Dust, following up with a seemingly innocuous statement: “Coming out next month.”

There’s also plenty of interesting data in the video interview. Over 100 million PlayStation Network accounts have been created, and 44 million of them are in the United States. 2.2 million PlayStation Vitas have been sold worldwide, along with 63.9 million PlayStation 3 consoles. Over 21 million PS3s are owned in the US.

We’ve reached out the PR firm covering Dust 514 on behalf of developer CCP to confirm or clarify Tretton’s statement, and will update when we hear back.

More GTA V Screens: Taking Care of Business

Another day, more Grand Theft Auto V screenshots. This time, Rockstar has released four screens with the theme of 'Business' on its Newswire.

On the run from the police? A car transporter not the most inconspicuous form of escape.

A biplane: when a regular plane just isn't enough.

The Infernus makes a return.

Police sniper lines up a shot from a helicopter.

This is the third album released by Rockstar this week. On Monday we got a glimpse at the vehicles available in San Andreas, and on Wednesday we gazed at the leisure activities on offer in the game.

Today's post ends with the statement: "Hope you enjoyed this week’s 10 screenshot special from Grand Theft Auto V".

Aussie Billionaire Wants a Real-Life Jurassic Park

Notorious Australian business man (and potentially crazed mad scientist) Clive Palmer is said to be attempting to develop a real-life Jurassic Park -- like, with actual dinosaurs.

According to the report from Business Insider (via Sunshine Coast Daily), the controversial and eccentric billionaire has been in serious discussions with the people who successfully cloned Dolly the sheep to work the same magic from dinosaur DNA. Palmer's endgame, naturally, is to let this scaly abomination roam free in a Jurassic Park-type sanctuary at his Palmer Resort in Coolum.

This isn't Palmer's only outlandish project currently in the works. He's also planning to build a 21st century replica of the Titanic. Whether these wild escapades will ever see the light of day remains to be seen, but in any case you've got to admire the man's sense of scope.

So far, Palmer has refused to comment on the rumors of his Hammond-esque aspirations, but if I were you I would definitely stay tuned.
