Every day hundreds of new apps make their debut on the App Store, and hundreds more are updated or reduced in price. We have sifted through the noise and highlighted those select few that might be worth your attention.
Happy Street – (Free)
Looking more than a little like an iOS take on Nintendo's Animal Crossing franchise, Godzilab's new Happy Street lets you live in a growing village of smiling, cheerful animals.
China Archer – ($2.99)
Hua Rong is the name of China's version of Green Arrow or Hawkeye from way back in the 14th century, a character of ancient Chinese literature that, today, is getting his own iOS archery game.
Kid Vector – ($1.99)
This new platformer from developer Uncade pays homage to decades-old vector-based gaming graphics, the likes of which were used to render the visuals of games like 1983's Star Wars arcade game.
The Infinity Project 2 – ($0.99)
This sequel to 2009's original Infinity Project once again sends you into the fray of sci-fi first-person shooting action with a mission to save the planet. It's also on sale for its first few days in the Store, so check it out before the price jumps up.
Commando Jack – ($0.99)
Chillingo's latest is a tower defender that spins the viewpoint down to a first-person perspective. Its hero, the titular Jack, also wears a beret. Gotta love that.
Monster Trouble Anniversary Edition – ($0.99)
Developer NuOxygen's Monster Trouble has been a fixture of the iOS tower defense genre for a while now, and this new edition celebrates the game's on-going success with new content added in.
Chicken Raid – ($0.99)
Angry Birds addicts might find a new flock to have fun with here in FDG Games' Chicken Raid, another bird-filled physics-based iOS puzzler.
Agent Dash – (Free)
Like Temple Run with a secret agent theme, Agent Dash looks poised to become the next big thing in the App Store – especially since you can grab it for free.
Monster Life – (Free)
Gameloft's latest looks to be a mixture of Pokemon and papercraft modeling, as it's a world full of recruitable creatures that all have bodies you could fold up yourself given a little time and a pair of scissors. It's also free to step into.
Static Motion – ($0.99)
A fast-paced tapping challenge, Static Motion challenges you to absorb energy from destroyed targets to keep yourself alive.
San Juan – ($7.99)
Ravensburger's award-winning board game Puerto Rico inspired a card game spin-off called San Juan, and now that card game has a new digital version available.
Alien Breed – ($4.99)
You probably know the name Team 17 from the popular Worms franchise, but 21 years ago the same studio produced a decidedly different game – a top-down sci-fi shooter called Alien Breed. That game is back now, fully remade for iOS. (And you can play it with retro graphics too, if you like.)
Doom II RPG – ($0.99)
This transformation of a classic old-school shooter into a turn-based role-playing adventure is one of our App Store favorites, but it hasn't had a sale since last year. Finally, though, its price has dropped down to 99 cents once again. Grab it!
Doom Classic – ($0.99)
The more traditional, fast-action version of id Software's original Doom is also on sale for the same low price.
Doom Resurrection – ($0.99)
And why not make it a triple Doom day? Doom Resurrection's also on sale, same low price again.
Rage HD – ($0.99)
Not a Doom installment, but also from id. Rage HD is on sale right now as well.
iBlast Moki HD – (Free)
One of our absolute favorites from back in 2009, iBlast Moki's iPad version can be yours for free right now.
Max Adventure – (Free)
Aliens have invaded and all the adults have disappeared, so it's up to kids to defend the planet in Max Adventure. You can join the children's fight for free right now.
Doodle Fit 2: Around the World – (Free)
Also free today is the shape-sorting puzzling action of Doodle Fit 2.
Harbor Master – (Free)
Keep a bunch of ships from crashing and capsizing in an overcrowded bay in another of today's freebies.
Multiponk – ($0.99)
Single-device multiplayer Pong can be yours for just a dollar today.
Total War Battles: Shogun – ($1.99)
Down five bucks from its April debut price of $6.99, Sega's Total War Battles is now more affordable than it's ever been.
Puerto Rico HD – ($7.99)
Coinciding with the release of its spin-off San Juan today, Ravensburger has also pushed live an update for the Puerto Rico iOS app. A.I. enhancements and multiplayer lobby upgrades included.
Infinity Blade II – ($2.99)
Version 1.3 is out for Chair Entertainment's smash hit sequel Infinity Blade II. It adds new enemies, new items and a new class of weapon that's actually powered by solar energy. Chair's going green!
Angry Birds HD – ($2.99)
And of course we can't end without highlighting the latest additions to that most prolific of App Store games, the original Angry Birds. Rovio's latest update for the game that started it all adds power-ups to the design, like the bird-expanding Super Seed and the toss-enhancing King Sling. Check out the changes in this latest trailer:
