Kotoukiya's Danger Room Sessions line has been one of its more popular statue series over the past few years. Many X-Men fans still have great affinity for Jim Lee's iconic character designs, and the DRS statues capture those designs in all their colorful, muscular glory. To date we've seen statues of Psylocke, Wolverine, Deadpool, Gambit, Colossus, and Magneto (the last of which we reviewed here).
Progress on the line seemed to slow this year as Koto understandably increased focus on more movie-relevant characters like Spider-Man and the Avengers. But the DRS line is far from dead, as evidenced by a new reveal this week.
Cyclops is the latest X-Man to enter the Danger Room. Of course, he's wearing the familiar blue and gold attire made famous by Lee's X-Men Vol. 2 work and X-Men: The Animated Series. As with most of the other DRS statues, Cyclops is sculpted in mid-action and perched atop the wreckage of a Sentinel. Like Magneto, Cyclops' design actually seems inspired by a specific piece of art from X-Men Vol. 2 #1:
Cyclops has been sculpted by DRS veteran Erick Sosa. The statue is designed at 1:6 scale and measures about 10.5 inches tall. The estimated release date is March 2013 with an MSRP of $209.99.
Now all we need is for Koto to resurrect the canceled Rogue statue and we'll be that much closer to having a full Blue Team lineup on our shelves.
