MGM's Robocop remake needs a new villain.
House star Hugh Laurie had been circling the bad guy role, but according to tweets from Variety's Jeff Sneider the actor is now "definitely" out. No reason was given for Laurie's withdrawal.
Robocop begins filming in September under the direction of Jose Padilha. Joel Kinnaman plays the title role and the cast also includes Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Jackie Earle Haley, Jay Baruchel, Michael Kenneth Williams, Jennifer Ehle, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
