App Store Update: September 12

Every day hundreds of new apps make their debut on the App Store, and hundreds more are updated or reduced in price. We have sifted through the noise and highlighted those select few that might be worth your attention.

Game Debuts

Pygmies·Hoglet·EX – ($2.99)

The developers at maxmobile are doing their best to revive the '90s Tamagotchi craze, and this is their latest virtual pet – a baby hedgehog, also known as a hoglet. Feed and care for the little critter, play mini-games, and enjoy his pixelated cuteness.

Price Drops

Run Roo Run – (Free)

It's the day many budget-conscious app grabbers have been waiting for since January – Run Roo Run has finally gone free! The vibrant, content-packed platforming adventure starring a mama kangaroo chasing after her kidnapped joey was developed by 5th Cell – the makers of Scribblenauts and Hybrid – and earned an 8.0 "Great" rating in our review earlier this year. Don't miss it!

Gravity Guy – (Free)

But don't stop with just the hopping kangaroo – flip out with Gravity Guy for free, too.

League of Evil 2 – ($0.99)

For yet more platforming goodness, check out League of Evil 2. It also earned itself an 8.0 review score, and it's only a buck to buy right now.

MotoHeroz – (Free)

And the hits keep coming! It's a little mind-boggling to me that MotoHeroz is now also a free download, as I actually reviewed this one myself when it debuted on WiiWare last year. It scored a 9.0, "Amazing," got itself my own Editor's Choice Award and is so absolutely worth the few seconds it would take for you to click over and download it that you should have stopped reading this by now and already fired up your App Store.

Infinity Blade – ($0.99)

We mentioned this sale on Monday, but it merits mention again. If you don't already own it, Chair Entertainment's iPhone epic Infinity Blade is just 99 cents right now.

Infinity Blade II – ($2.99)

And the sequel's also on sale, matching its lowest sale price ever by dropping back down to just $2.99. This one scored a perfect 10/10 rating in our review, so it's probably a safe bet to spend three bucks on:

Updates

Kingdom Rush HD – ($2.99)

And let's round out today's impressive listing of top-quality games with one last one, Kingdom Rush. This one got its own 9.0 and Editor's Choice in its January review, and it's an even more complete package today thanks to the debut of the new Version 1.6 update that's just launched – which adjusts game balance, adds a new hero character, gives you a new campaign to play and opens up a Gnome Shop. A Gnome Shop! Come on, now. That's just fun.

That's all for today! If you haven't already, consider subscribing to the App Store Update via email. It's extra convenient!
