Josh Schwartz, Bret Easton Ellis, Catherine Hardwicke team for Copeland Prep, a High School/Monster Series at The CW

In what could be described as one of the weirdest team-ups ever, Bret Easton Ellis (author of Less Than Zero and American Psycho), Josh Schwartz (the creator of The OC and co-creator of Chuck) and Catherine Hardwicke (the director of Thirteen and Twilight) are currently developing a high school/monster drama series for The CW.

The hour-long series, called Copeland Prep, revolves around the students of a competitive secondary school that's turning teenagers into monsters. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ellis has been commissioned to pen the script and executive produce alongside Schwartz and his Fake Empire cohorts for Warner Bros. Television. Hardwicke will serve as an executive consultant.

Schwartz, who has an overall deal with WBTV, already has four shows slated for the 2012-13 season on The CW: Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie, as well as freshman series The Carrie Diaries and Cult.
