13-Inch Retina MacBook Pro Rumored for Holiday Release

We were big fans of Apple's MacBook Pro with Retina Display. (Check out our full review.) Trust us: once you go Retina, it's hard to go back. But the 15.4-inch MacBook models have never been as affordable as the 13-inchers, and the original Retina MBP started at $2,199.

In a report at CNet, industry analyst Richard Shim argues that recent supply-chain trends indicate that a 13.3-inch MacBook Pro (specifically not a MacBook Air) with a Retina-grade 2560 x 1600 display is already in the early stages of production, and might be released before the end of the year.

Will it be much more affordable than its big brother? Shim says yes, expecting a price point "well below the $2,199 entry point" of the 15-inch version.

Will a 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro be on your wishlist if it's out in time? Let us know in the comments.
