StarCraft II - GSL Champion Life Challenges Fight Club King HyuN for $1600

Last week, Ko "HyuN" Seok Hyun continued his unprecedented run in the IPL Fight Club by defeating Choi "Brown" Min Soo (5-2), extending his win-streak to eleven games -- that's eight more games than any other Fight Club contender! Monday, he will be challenged by Lee "Life" Seung Hyun, perhaps his most dangerous opponent to date.

The Road So Far

HyuN began his Fight Club career in August 2012 when he was invited to challenge Squirtle, who was currently on a 3-0 win-streak. Though he lost the first game on Metropolis, HyuN managed to take down the Protoss champion (5-3) to take his seat on the Fight Club throne.

The next week, HyuN defended his title against Mexican Terran player MajOr (5-1). The challengers that followed met similar fates as HyuN defeated each and everyone in swift series. He bested CranK (5-1), Tear (5-3), Grubby (5-0), aLive (5-0), TitaN (5-1), GuMiho (5-3), ByuN (5-3), and Sea (5-1). With last week's victory, HyuN has earned $1100 in bounty.

HyuN's record stands at 55-18 with over 75% win percentages against Protoss and Terran. Life will be the first Zerg he faces in Fight Club.

The Challenger

Life first gained recognition in March 2011 when he joined ZeNEX as one of the youngest professional Korean players. He was fourteen-years-old at the time. Since then, Life has achieved an enormous amount of success. This year alone, Life dominated a handful of online cups such as the EWM and the ESV TV Korean Weeklies, beating notable names such as CoCa and RagnaroK.

He made fairly significant runs in international tournaments such as the IPL Tournament of Champions, where he swept players like Artist and Apocalypse (3-0), and the Iron Squid, where he defeated Bomber (2-1) and Stephano (2-1). Earlier this fall, Life made it to the grand finals of the TSL4, where he took second place behind Creator.

More recently, he stormed through the GSL Season 4, making an unprecedented Code S run by defeating some of the best players in the world like NesTea, Seed, MarineKing, and TaeJa. In the finals, he faced Mvp, the most decorated player in SCII. The series went to game seven, which Life was able to win, making him the first Royal Roader and the youngest champion in GSL history. He finished the season with a 18-5 score.

Prediction: Life 5 > 4 HyuN

If there's anybody who can take down the reigning champion HyuN, it is Life. Life has been on fire as of late, and even the greatest of GSL champions could not stop his run. Not to mention ZvZ is Life's best matchup with a career winrate of over 70%. Life will put an end to HyuN's Fight Club reign with a 5-4 victory.

Be sure to tune into this week's Fight Club to see if the GSL champion can put a stop to HyuN's unmatched dominance.
