App Store Update: November 12

Every day hundreds of new apps make their debut on the App Store, and hundreds more are updated or reduced in price. We have sifted through the noise and highlighted those select few that might be worth your attention.

Game Debuts

iWesnoth – ($3.99)

The Battle for Wesnoth was first released nearly a decade ago as a fully open source turn-based strategy title, and in the 10 years since then tons of different developers have taken advantage of it being an open source project and added to its design. Now, someone’s stepped in to take the game to a new platform, porting it over to iOS as the new “iWesnoth.” Longtime fans and contributors to its development will certainly want to check it out.

Price Drops

Fieldrunners – ($0.99)

In honor of today being Veterans’ Day, Subatomic Studios is sending the Fieldrunners soldiers into battle for a reduced price.

Crystal Defenders for iPad – ($3.99)

If you’d prefer your tower defense to have more of a fantasy theme instead, check out the 50% off sale Square Enix is currently running for the Final Fantasy spin-off, Crystal Defenders.

Crystal Defenders for iPhone – ($3.99)

Just keep in mind that Crystal Defenders isn’t a universal app, so if you’re not an iPad owner, you’ll want to click the link for this version instead.

Monster RPG 2 – (Free)

And if you find yourself in a Final Fantasy mood but lacking an extra spending money at the moment, check out this free download of developer Nooskewl’s homage to old-school FF, Monster RPG 2.

Updates

Babel Rising 3D – ($0.99)

Last of all for today, Ubisoft’s Babel Rising 3D has been upgraded to fit the iPhone 5’s new display, and added a new gate and a few new units as well. So there’s no time like the present to step into the shoes of Old Testament God, leveraging the powers of nature to keep those pesky tower builders from constructing their way up to the heavens.

That's all for today! And hey, if you haven't already, subscribe to the App Store Update via email. For convenience!
