App Store Update: November 20

Every day hundreds of new apps make their debut on the App Store, and hundreds more are updated or reduced in price. We have sifted through the noise and highlighted those select few that might be worth your attention.

Game Debuts

Groove Coaster Zero – (Freemium)

Groove Coaster is back! We fell in love with the original Groove Coaster when it launched last year, praising it for its ability to capture our interest and imagination as a unique, memorable experience among the tons upon tons of different apps we try out every day. It earned a well-deserved 9.5/10 in its review, and we still recommend it. Now, though, there’s also Groove Coaster Zero to consider – a pseudo-sequel to the original that adopts a freemium pricing structure. Is it as good as the original? Well, it’s free to try, so give it a download and see.

Spell Rift – ($0.99)

Word gaming fans will want to check out the Kieffer Bros’ Spell Rift, a new vocab-searching puzzler with a unique visual style – and maybe a bomb or two.

4NR – ($0.99)

And also new today is 4NR, a very, very retro platformer that looks gorgeously low-res in its intentionally restricted pixel-art style.

Price Drops

LUXOR – (Free)

MumboJumbo’s casual marble-popper has gone free, so match up those colored spheres and bust ‘em.

Tiny Troopers – Free)

Also free today is Chillingo’s Tiny Troopers, a cutesy military strategy title that could see you all the way through the Thanksgiving weekend.

The Sims 3 – ($0.99)

Electronic Arts always has something up for sale, and today it’s The Sims 3. Grab it for cheap.

Stunt Star: The Hollywood Years – ($0.99)

That same 99 cents could also buy you this touch-control daredevil design, too, though.

Townsmen Premium – ($0.99)

Then again, another option for that same dollar-less-a-penny could be the medieval construction sim, Townsmen.

Verticus– ($0.99)

And because we believe in the power of choice in picking games here at the ASU, here’s a fourth option for still that same 99 cents – Stan Lee’s recently-released freefalling superhero game. (Of course, just four bucks invested buys you all four of these, so that’s always an option too.)

That's all for today! And hey, if you haven't already, subscribe to the App Store Update via email. For convenience!
