Batman: Arkham City Board Game Coming in 2013

Cryptozoic Entertainment has revealed Batman: Arkham City Escape, a new board game coming in February 2013. According to Cryptozoic’s official site, Arkham City Escape is “a two-player game that pits Batman against all of his greatest foes as they try to escape Arkham.”

The game lets one player take on the role of Batman while the other plays as a team of various Batman villains, earning points for helping inmates escape Arkham. Conversely, Batman will earn points by catching villains before they manage to flee the city. The first player to earn 10 points wins. Cryptozoic claims “no two games play out the same, as the villain player uses a random assortment of villains each time” and advertises that each of the villains has “special abilities” to use in order to escape Batman. Batman will be able to use various Utility Belt cards to use his gadgets in order to win.

Arkham City Escape will be available for $45 and games are said to last between 30-45 minutes. The game features 126 game cards in all, including 40 villain cards, 40 Batman combat cards, 8 Utility Belt cards, 10 Ally cards, 10 Gargoyle cards and 18 set-up cards. Also included are an 18” x 33” double-sided game board, a utility belt board, a Batman Experience die, a Batman character paw, 8 combat/action dice and a rulebook.

Who knows? Maybe if the game sells well enough, we'll even get some interesting Game of the Year Edition box art...
