Kids Want iOS Devices Over Consoles for Christmas

iOS devices are the most demanded pieces of tech by American children ahead of consoles and phones.

Nielsen conducted a survey in which they asked kids aged 6-12 and then 13+ what gadgets they would most like to receive in the next six months.

The iPad was the most demanded device in the 6-12 range, with 48% of those asked saying they'd want one. This was followed by Nintendo's newly-released Wii U, which 39% of kids in the survey wanted. The iPod Touch, iPad Mini and iPhone round out the top five, with the first two piquing the interest of 36% of those asked, while 33% of participants fancied an iPhone.

Sony's PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360 only interested about a quarter of those asked, comparatively. Check out the graph below to see where everything else ranked.

Kids over the age of 13 were slightly more restrained in their electronics choices though, with tablets and full-sized computers taking the coveted most-wanted slots. Though the iPad again came top with 21% saying they wanted one, this was down on the 24% who wanted the same product last year. While there's clearly a good degree of interest in tablets among this demographic, they also seem to be less concerned with the brand involved. You can check out how everything ranked for those aged 13+ below.
