Which individuals do you believe have served gaming with distinction and excellence during 2012? Who are your creative, intellectual and dynamic heroes of the year? It’s time to let us know.
At the end of December, IGN will once again honor 30 people in gaming who we believe represent the best of the year. And we need your help to pick those names.
Already, debate has been raging among the IGN team as to who should be on the list. But we can’t do this without your ideas and your input.
So, please let us know who you want to see on that list. Get involved in comments, or send the list's curator a tweet (@colincampbellx). It really does make a difference.
What’s the criteria? We’re not looking for perennial greats, so much as people who have done particularly well this year, who have contributed to gaming in a positive way. The final list will include gamemakers, games-players, organizers, execs, academics, media personalities, actors and more. It’s going to be a cross-section of gaming as a whole. (Check out last year’s list of 30 Best Games People for 2011.) Note: IGN employees are not eligible for this list.
The final list will be packed with amazing people who have done something really cool in 2012, rather than those who are working on projects yet to be realized, or those who we hold in esteem due to years of service to games.
So, think creatively. Let us know your ideas. In the United States this is Thanksgiving week, but everywhere in the world this is a great opportunity to give thanks to those who have made gaming so great in 2012.
Who do you want to see in IGN’s Best Games People of 2012 List? Let us know in comments or send article curator Colin Campbell a tweet to @colincampbellx
Note to games industry people and PRs. Send us your nominations too. You can reach Colin via Twitter or through a standard IGN email address. Deadline is December 1.
Colin Campbell has been writing about video games for 25 years, and takes the collation of this list of people really, really seriously. Contact me directly on Twitter to ask questions or share ideas. You can also follow me on IGN.
