Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane to Guest on The Simpsons

Animated comedy fans will join in an unlikely chorus of giggity giggities and woo hoos next year, because Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is set to lend his voice to the premiere of The Simpsons' 25th season.

MacFarlane, who'll also be keeping himself busy with the Academy Awards and possible Family Guy movie planning, will guest star in an episode called 'Dangers on a Train' as Ben, a charming married man who pursues Marge after she accidentally stumbles on a website for those seeking extra-marital affairs.

While the two Fox shows have famously made jabs at one another for years, The Simpsons' executive producer Al Jean maintains it's always been playful. “We thought we had a great part that he’d be perfect for, and it would be great to have him on our show, so it worked out just right,” Jean told Entertainment Weekly, who broke the story. “There’s been a little rivalry. We’re both humor shows and we make jokes, but it’s always been friendly.”

It's not the first time the two animated universes have come together. In 2009, MacFarlane lent his voice to Simpsons' creator Matt Groening's other series, Futurama, and Dan Castellaneta - aka Homer Simpson - once guest-starred on Family Guy.

The episode, which allegedly has the honey-voiced MacFarlane crooning The Way You Look Tonight (surprise surprise), will air in the United States next Autumn.
