Free Game on XBLA: Double Fine's Kinect Party

Kinect Party, the sequel to the wacky Kinect mini-game collection Double Fine Happy Action Theater, will be free for a limited time, Microsoft's Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb announced via his blog.

Previously known as Double Fine Happy Action TV, the party game allows up to six players to goof around in front of the television in a series of nonsensical scenarios, such as your living room filling up with lava or making you the star of a dubstep video. It will be a free download from the time it's released on December 18 through December 31. After that it will return to its regular price, 800 Microsoft Points ($10 USD), or 400 Microsoft Points ($5 USD) for those who already own Double Fine Happy Action Theater.

Also, Double Fine confirms that individual activities (the game contains over 18 new ones) will cost 80 Microsoft Points ($1) after the limited-time free offer. And if you own the previous game, all of its activities will import into Kinect Party.

Be sure to take a look at our super-fun video preview above, and the game's official trailer below.

Ryan McCaffrey heads up IGN Xbox. He used to own a DeLorean, which is weird. Follow him on Twitter at @DMC_Ryan, on IGN, catch him on Podcast Unlocked, and drop-ship him Taylor Ham sandwiches from New Jersey whenever possible.
