LR10 of SC2 at IPL5: Polt vs. Bomber Recap

Game 1 on Entombed Valley

Bomber attempts to deny Polt's command center, but Polt demonstrates some excellent control and is able to kill the marines and SCV. However, in the process, he revealed his reaper. Bomber opts for a reactor hellion expand with banshees. Bomber harasses with his banshee while Polt moves out with a mass of marines.

Bomber builds up a monstrous mech army of hellions and tanks, charges forward and engages Polt's 1-1 bio army. After Bomber's vikings arrive, he is able to narrowly win the engagement. Another huge engagement by Polt's third goes into Bomber's favor as he annihilates the bio force. Polt's army supply and economy plummet.

In response, Polt techs up to battlecruisers. Bomber opts for thors. Another big fight takes place and Bomber is forced to retreat as he lacks the strong anti-air to combat the mass of battlecruisers. He decides to build up a force of vikings and ravens while doing significant economic damage to Polt. Bomber rips through Polt's air army, and due to his lack of mining, Polt cannot recover and he gg's as Bomber drops manner mules.

Game 2 on Ohana

Bomber goes for early gas to research cloak. He attempts some early banshee harassment, but a key scan by Polt spots it. Polt responds by creating vikings, however, Bomber's banshee harass is highly successful as Polt loses 14 units and is forced to scan repeatedly.

The game is incredibly even in economy and supply as each player masses up an army of marines and tanks. Polt sieges up outside of Bomber's base, forcing him to stay at home. Bomber cannot expand. Polt pulls ahead in supply, but both players are even in upgrades. Polt goes on the offensive and decimates Bomber's siege tanks with his mass of marines. Bomber falls further and further behind. He cannot catch up with his poor economy, so Bomber is forced to gg.

Game 3 on Daybreak

Both players gear up for a macro-oriented game. Once again, Bomber opts for mech, whereas Polt goes for a bio army. Bomber goes for blue-flame hellions, using them to harass Polt, hindering his economy. Polt falls behind and attempts to catch up with a multi-medivac marine drop. Bomber scouts the medivacs as they move across the map and stops them.

Bomber builds up siege tanks and an enormous amount of vikings, whereas Polt continues to queue marines and marauders. Several engagements in the middle of the map go into Polt's favor as his 3-2 bio force completely decimates the tank line.

While Bomber controls the air with his vikings, Polt has superior ground control. He chunks away at Bomber's army with small fights across the map, taking complete control of the map, commanding the course of the game. His macro is far superior to Bomber, who eventually concedes the game, and Polt moves on to the Loser Bracket final.
