Day Three at IPL5 is already underway with the next round of StarCraft II matches. Yesterday was full of action, especially with the electrifying GSL Code S Ro4. Here is today's round up of match-ups you should check out throughout the day.
Matches of Loser Round 7
Sniper vs. HerO
Sniper lost to TheStC (2-0) in WR2 then stormed through the Loser Bracket, sweeping MaSsan, ToD, HuK, and 2-1'ing MC and Taeja. HerO, on the other hand, did incredibly well in the Winner Bracket with one of the most difficult brackets in the tournament. He defeated Stephano (2-1), Seed (2-1), and San (2-1) before falling to viOLet (1-2). Now the GSL finalist and the DreamHack Winter champion will face off in hopes of surviving another round.
Sleep vs. BBoong Sleep hasn't played much this tournament as he was seeded into WR4, where he defeated Scarlett (2-0) before losing to Symbol (0-2) in the next round. He will play BBoong, who will have the momentum in his favor. BBoong has been competing since WR1 and has done exceptionally well despite dropping into the Loser Bracket in WR2. Since then, BBoong has eliminated Golden, LeiYa, Seed, CranK, and XiGua.
TheStC vs. DongRaeGu
TheStC has surprised many by making it this far. The Terran player is skilled but often underestimated by his peers. TheStC defeated ViBE (2-0), GSL finalist Sniper (2-0), Bomber (2-1), and CranK (2-0) before losing to Leenock (0-2). He will face DongRaeGu. The Zerg player fell to the Loser Bracket after losing to YoDa (0-2). From there, he defeated VortiX (2-0), fan favorite Scarlett (2-1), and Fight Club King HyuN (2-1).
Creator vs. Bomber
One of the best Protoss players in the world will take on one of the most talented Terran players in LR7. Bomber has demonstrated some exciting play this tournament with his use of tactical nukes and has taken out some top-tier players including Sculp (2-1), San (2-0), and Snute (2-1). Creator remains one of the last two Protosses in the tournament. He made an impressive run through the Winner Bracket, beating Shuttle (2-0), LeiYa (2-0), HyuN, (2-1), and TaeJa (2-1) before falling to Polt (0-2).
The GSL World Championships
IPL5 and GOMtv are proud to present the second iteration of the GSL World Championships this afternoon. Korean all-stars will take on the best of the foreign world in a tournament of three rounds. The first round will be five Korea vs. The World matches. The second round will be an all-kill format team match. The final round will be an ace match. You will not want to miss this.
The GSL Code S Grand Finals
Last night we witnessed HyuN and Sniper advance to the grand finals of the GSL Code S Season 5, which will be played tonight in the Cosmopolitan. To get here, HyuN defeated Creator (3-1) and INnoVation (3-1) in the playoffs, whereas Sniper beat Leenock (3-1) and Ryung (3-2).
