Safety Not Guaranteed Helmer on Star Wars: Episode VII Screenwriter

Colin Trevorrow made a splash in 2012 with his marvellous sci-fi romance Safety Not Guaranteed.

And in spite of the fact that the film failed to reach as large an audience as it deserved, the movie nevertheless brought him to the attention of the makers of Star Wars: Episode VII.

Trevorrow met with producers but ultimately didn't land the gig, with the helmer instead working on a project of his own as well as developing a Flight of the Navigator remake.

But he did discuss the return of the franchise with IGN, and more specifically what Pixar alumni and Toy Story 3 scribe Michael Arndt will bring to the project as screenwriter…

Chris Tilly is the Entertainment Editor for IGN in the UK and is annoyed he missed out on the Star Wars screenwriting gig. His words can be found on both Twitter and MyIGN.
