Could Tina Fey be joining the Muppet fray? According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 30 Rock actress is in "late-stage negotiations" with Disney to star as the female lead in the sequel to 2011's The Muppets. She'll join confirmed cast members Rickey Gervais and Ty Burrell (Modern Family) in a caper set in Europe.
Although original Muppet mastermind Jason Segel won't be returning to star, director James Bobin has returned to write and direct the sequel, joined by co-scribe Nicholas Stoller. Flight of the Conchords star Bret McKenzie, who wrote the critically lauded music in the first film, is set to to return to soundtrack duties.
If the negotiations with Fey are successful, she'll be playing a "Russian gulag prison guard," according to the Reporter. Shooting begins in London this month. Life's a happy song!
