The first IPL Heart of the Swarm Fight Club pitted Creator.Prime against the teamless Polt. Creator, one of the best "routine" Protoss player, was a monster in team matches and Fight Club. The challenger, Polt, however, may very well be the hard counter to the juggernaut that is Creator. This Terran v. Protoss match made for an amazing start to the IPL Fight Club.
The final two-pronged attack by Polt ended game one.
DF Atlas -- Game one
Polt started the game with early reaper scouting while bunkering and macro'ing the main base. Creator prepared for a five-base aggressive push. He crushed through Polt's bunkers and entered the main for economic damage, but Polt's caused more economic damage with some widow mines during his defense. Polt went for medivac quick hits for aggression and sniped out a robotics bay and caged in Creator. The last two-pronged attack finished off Creator for game one.
Creator took the aggressive route again and it paid off.
Ohana -- Game two
Polt tried the same build with a reaper scout and a bunker defense, but Creator's fast all-in aggression pushed through this time. The attack absolutely crippled Polt's base and economy, giving Creator a near two-to-one worker advantage. With that, Creator just reinforced and finished game two.
Polt's positioning and well-timed attacks led to a desperate all-in counter by Creator that was crushed.
Daybreak -- Game three
Creator stayed defensive for the start and focused on accumulating gas before expanding. Polt opened with the same start of widow mines into a bio ball. He then used the medivac/mine drop to take the early economic aggression. Polt, off of three bases, moved out with a strong bio ball and hit Creator's units when there was no splash damage. Creator, in a disadvantage, went all-in with his colossus and sentries and Polt's defenses ended the threat and the game.
Creator's all-in was held and beat by Polt's fast stim and bunker defense.
Cloud Kingdom -- Game four
Polt went with the same start as game two with a macro-heavy beginning against Creator's timing push off of one-base. Creator's all-in of sentries, immortals, mothership core, and stalkers could not break through the three bunker, with stim, defenses of Polt. That finished off the rest of the game with the last reinforcements killed from the bunkers.
Another all-in from Creator, this time with void rays, and another defensive bunker hold and win by Polt.
Akilon Flats -- Game five
Creator spun a different start with a proxy star gate and a two gateway follow-up for a quick void ray. Polt went with the same defensive start with bunkering up and marines/widow mines at base. The void ray misplay in charging cost his one-base all-in attack to fall to another defensive bunker hold from Polt. Creator's creative air play did not pay off in game five.
Polt dominated Creator's base race army and did too much damage with his own medivac drop.
Entombed Valley -- Game six
Creator finally changed things up with a fast three-base expansion. Polt, off of three bases, went for an aggressive push with bio units to control the map. Creator defended each push with his colossus and stalker army, but Polt's caging in strategy just put too much pressure. While Polt split up Creator's defense and attention, he took the macro advantage with a fifth base. A beautiful attack from Creator, with psionic storm, pushed back Polt from his base -- but, Polt's medivac supply kept his army alive despite beautiful storm placements. Finally, with Polt's medivac drop in Creator's main prompted a base race. Creator's main army was beat in Polt's base and his base race won out.
Creator, the four-time champ in Fight Club, was beat by Polt's amazing Terran control and defense. The first HoTS Fight Club champion was a dominating Polt in 5-1 fashion.
