Judi Dench's M's Name Revealed?

Spoilers follow for Skyfall.

Anyone who's ever been on a film set knows that the level of detail involved in props, wardrobe and sets can be pretty extensive, particularly when one considers that many of said details ultimately won't even be visible in the final product onscreen.

Coming Soon has picked out a couple of such tidbits during a Skyfall Blu-ray promotional event that are sure to have James Bond fans buzzing. Props were put on display for the visiting press to examine, including the porcelain bulldog that -- again, spoilers -- Judi Dench's M leaves to 007 at the end of the film. And the inscription on the box it is in, Coming Soon learned, reads "Olivia Mansfield bequeaths James Bond." Which means the always-nameless M now has a name. And it starts with M!

Not that this is canon, but it's a fun detail for fans to ponder. And yes, of course Dench's successor -- the new M played by Ralph Fiennes -- has a name too: Gareth Mallory. But we learned that before he was M, so it kinda doesn't count.
