Anchorman 2 just got a whole lot funnier with news that Bridesmaids and SNL star Kristen Wiig is joining the cast.
Director Adam McKay made the announcement on his Twitter, stating “Just found out Kristen Wiig officially onboard for Anchorman 2. Cannonball!”
There’s no word yet on who she’s playing, but rumours suggest the role will be that of Brick Tamland’s wife.
Principal photography commences next month, with Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and David Koechner all returning.
We also spoke to producer Judd Apatow about the script last week, and he revealed “It's pretty hilarious - I think people are going to laugh a lot - it's completely nuts.
Regards potential musical numbers, he said “It's like Star Wars - I can't give away the many secrets, but they like to sing.”
And when pushed concerning the film’s ending, Apatow said “They all die.”
Mercifully, he was joking.
Anchorman: The Legend Continues is released this Christmas.
