Did Russell Crowe Spot a UFO?

Has the future Jor-El had a brush with a real-life Kryptonian? Russell Crowe tweeted earlier this week about a mysterious flash cutting across the sky above his office in Woolloomooloo, Australia. He also just so happened to have his Canon 5D camera set up at the time to capture fruit bats -- right? -- rising from botanical gardens.

The three photos he took during the event were spread 4.5 seconds apart and were posted on YouTube earlier today (see the video below). But was it really a close encounter, or just a trick of the light?

The Hollywood Reporter points out one YouTube commenter, bernzeppi, who offered a more reasonable explanation for the effect. "OK kiddies, get ya google maps out, and zoom in on finger wharf 10 in Woolloomooloo, Sydney. Russ's place is near the end of the wharf, the shot is taken looking west towards the botanic gardens and Mrs Macquarie's Rd.... In the video you see 2 cars drive along Mrs Macquaries Rd, keeping in mind it's a time lapse shot with the shutter open for a number of seconds. The 'UFO' lights are a yacht passing in the foreground... there are lots of millionaires yachts moored there."

In either case, you have to admit, that is one sick office view.
