Ed Norton Joins Keaton's Birdman

Edward Norton has joined the cast of Birdman, a new dark comedy from director Alejandro Gonzalez Innarritu and starring Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts and Zach Galifianakis.

The story centers on an actor (Keaton) who once portrayed an iconic superhero as he gears up for a Broadway play based on a Raymond Carver short story in an attempt to reclaim his former glory. However, the show's conceited leading man threatens to throw everything down the tubes. Norton will play that leading man, Deadline reports.

Fox Searchlight and New Regency hope to begin production this April.
