Kickstarter Game Pledges Pass $100 Million

As of today gamers have pledged $107.6 million on games on Kickstarter. The crowdfunding service has allowed 1,476 games to be funded since 2009 by 633,242 total backers.

The news comes via the Kickstarter blog, which reveals that 2012 saw an explosion of backers on the website, with $83 million raised in comparison to 2011’s $3.8 million. This statistic isn’t for video games as a whole, and takes into account board and tabletop games. So far, more than $22 million has been raised in 2013.

Kickstarter-backed games available now include FTL (which was nominated for IGN's 2012 game of the year), Kentucky Route Zero and Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams.

Kickstarter launched a native iOS app last month.
