Bloodshot #10 Review

Bloodshot has a had a rough time lately, struggling to find its voice. There has been a strange feeling each issue, one that left me often saying “I wish this was a little bit better.” Well, thanks to some brutal action and awesome artwork, Bloodshoot is finally a little bit better, and that's all it needed to become a great comic book. Just little bit, that's all.

Duane Swierczynski finally lets Bloodshot cut loose here, and man, it is good. The past few issues have revolved around Bloodshot getting torn to pieces by his foes, but that ain't the case here. Our nano-filled hero and his team of freaky super kids rip some dudes to pieces and it's spectacular stuff. For the first time in along time, it feels like a win for our hero and that's a very nice feeling. Hopefully Harbinger Wars won't dampen this high, because this series seems like it's finally on track.

Adding Barry Kitson to this issue makes a huge difference, as well. Bloodshot has never looked bad, but it has never looked this good either. It's lacking in the background department, but that's about the only complaint that can be leveled at this beauty. Kitson draws the action and violence with a style and grace, it's truly a sight to see. The smaller scenes towards the end look good too, but it's hard to beat Bloodshot pulling out a machete that has just been cleaved into his body and then turning to face the guy who did it.
