Is The Order: 1886 the Next PlayStation Exclusive?

Sony is well-known for its stable of exclusive games, and a new trademark application indicates that another one may be forthcoming.

Word comes by way of NeoGAF, which uncovered the application for a game called The Order: 1886. It’s identified as “Computer game software; Video game software” in the application, and was filed via Sony lawyer Kiphanie Radford at PlayStation’s American headquarters in Foster City, California.

Unfortunately, the application gives us little else to work with, including which studio might be behind the game. Sony owns 12 studios outright and dozens more revolve in and out of its second party (studios that make exclusives but aren’t owned by the company). But with several of Sony’s studios working on still-unknown next-gen games – including Sony Bend, Sony Santa Monica, Sony San Diego and others – the possibilities are tantalizing.

For another similar application from last month, check out our story about Sony’s mysterious upcoming Vita game known as Destiny of Spirits.
