Oblivion Sweeps the International Box Office

Tom Cruise's latest sci-fi spectacle Oblivion has cleaned up at the foreign box office on its opening weekend, claiming the number one spot in 48 out of 52 territories.

The film has divided critics (IGN's Chris Tilly describes it as a 'sumptuous sci-fi spectacle that lacks originality') but that hasn't stopped it taking in $61.1 million abroad, with $3.5 million of that total coming from IMAX theatres. It's already Cruise's biggest opening of all time in Russia, amassing $8.6 million at 670 spots. It also opened at number one in the U.K, Ireland, Australia, Mexico and Spain.

The movie opens in the United States this weekend.

Thanks, The Hollywood Reporter.
