Now that Showtime has made the official announcement that the upcoming 8th season of Dexter will indeed be its last, the question becomes: Is there in fact a Dexter spin-off in the works? Well, in a now somewhat to-be-expected non-committal response, Showtime entertainment president David Nevins has said, "nothing is off the table."
In a recent interview, The Hollywood Reporter asked Nevins if there was any truth to the rumors that the network is developing a Deb-centered spin-off, to which he replied, "All options are on the table as to where it could go after this. There's nothing actively happening, but you never know what the future holds. We need to get through this season and see how the dust settles and then see where we go from there. I won't rule it out, but I'm not actively planning anything."
It's somewhat difficult to imagine a Dexter spin-off, but it becomes particularly challenging when one picture's a series focused on any of the secondary characters other than Deb or one of Dexter's killing companions. Having said that, I'd certainly tune in for a Hannah-centered show, and hey, Yvonne Strahovski will be returning for a multi-episode arc...
