Fathom Events, CBS Home Entertainment and IGN's Star Trek: The Next Generation screening series has been awesome (if we do say so ourselves). Timed to the season-by-season release of the show's Blu-ray sets, the first- and second-season screenings had a great turnout and -- speaking purely as a Trek fan here -- were really fun. And now the latest one-night-only event is likely to be the biggest yet, as the classic episode "The Best of Both Worlds" will be shown on Thursday, April 25, at 7pm local time.
The two-part episode, which was originally made up of the Season 3 finale and the Season 4 premiere, have been remastered into a feature-length presentation. In it, Captain Picard and the crew of the Enterprise must face off against their greatest threat -- the Borg. But what happens when the fearless captain is assimilated into the Borg collective? Great sci-fi TV happens, that's what.
The screening will be broadcast to over 550 theaters across the country (check the Fathom website for a complete list of theater locations).
But IGN's also running a Facebook sweepstake that will give some of our lucky readers the chance to win tickets to the show. Just put on your Picard bald cap and head over to Go.IGN.com/StarTrekSweeps for your shot at winning!
And don't forget, Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season 3 and The Best of Both Worlds will both be released on Blu-ray on April 30. But if you're a Trekkie (or Trekker) you really should check out these screenings. You won't regret it.
