Internet sleuth Superannuation has unearthed and posted several new Mad Max-related domain registrations.
The domains madmaxgame.com, madmaxthegame.com, and worldgonemadlegendofmax.com have all been registered by Warner Bros. Entertainment.
The existence of a Mad Max project has been known since March 2008 when it was revealed God of War II director Cory Barlog had partnered with Mad Max writer/director George Miller for a game based on the upcoming Mad Max film, Mad Max: Fury Road.
Barlog joined Stockholm-based Avalanche Studios at this time and persistent rumours pegged the Just Cause developers as the team behind the Mad Max game.
However, in November 2011 it was reported that while the game adaptation of Fury Road was to be made in Sweden, Miller changed his mind after absorbing L.A. Noire developer Team Bondi into his company Kennedy Miller Mitchell Interactive. According to The Australian Financial Review Miller also acquired the rights to Team Bondi founder Brendan McNamara’s next game, Whore Of The Orient, and was set to go forward with both games for Warner Bros.
One slight curveball is this blurry picture out of Avalanche, recently published online. It’s not necessarily a Mad Max game, but it sure looks like it could be.
The film Mad Max: Fury Road, which has been in somewhat of a development quagmire for over a decade, is due to hit cinemas in 2014.
