Microsoft's Xbox companion app for smartphones and tablets, SmartGlass, has arrived on Amazon's Kindle Fire series. While the app has been available on Windows Phone, iOS, and Android since last fall, owners of Amazon's tablets had been left out. While the Kindle Fire and Fire HD products are based on Android, apps must be custom-tailored for Amazon's unique user interface and online storefronts.
Available now through Amazon's online app store, SmartGlass allows users to view their friends list, send messages, as well as access an entire suite of second-screen experiences, like using a tablet as a supplemental controller or interacting with information about a game or movie, synced in realtime.
To download the Xbox SmartGlass app, access the Amazon app store online or from directly on the Fire tablet.
