Sony and NBC haven't said anything official yet, but according to Dan Harmon himself, Dan Harmon is indeed back at Community. HitFix's Alan Sepinwall are among the outlets reporting that while it looks like contracts still need to be signed, it's pretty much a done deal Harmon will be returning for Season 5, a year after being let go from the series he created.
On his Twitter feed, Harmon has been having fun with all the speculation, with a series of tongue-in-cheek tweets about his status with the series. But this morning, he tweeted the following, which seems to put the issue to rest.
RT @dpeanutbutter: @danharmon GIVE US A STRAIGHT ANSWER! ~ Yes yes yes!I'm back I'm back I'm back.You can thank @joelmchale.

This was followed by some cast member responses, including the following from Jim Rash and Gillian Jacobs.
Welcome back, @danharmon! E Pluribus Anus!

Over the Greendale PA system and/or entering in a costume... Nice 2 dean u back, @danharmon!

Regarding Harmon thanking Joel McHale in his tweet, Sepinwall says he hears "several of the castmembers weren't happy with the season 4 scripts and pushed Sony for Harmon's return."
Exact details are of course, still forthcoming. But suffice to say, this is a pretty exciting and unexpected time for Community fans...
