Man of Steel Has a Super Debut at the Box Office

Unsurprisingly, Man of Steel was the king of both the domestic and the worldwide box office this weekend. The Superman reboot broke the record for June debuts, opening with an estimated $125 million ($113 million for the weekend and $12 million from Thursday late night showings).

Man of Steel opened day and date in several international markets, grossing an additional $71.6 million overseas for a worldwide total of $196.7 million.

The star-studded apocalyptic comedy This Is the End opened in second place with $20.5 million for the weekend and a total of $32.8 million since bowing Wednesday.
