Mass Effect 4 Shares Dragon Age 3 Core Mechanics

The next Mass Effect game will share several core features with Dragon Age: Inquisition, according BioWare Montreal's studio director.

Yanick Roy took to Twitter to announce that a first version of the design document for the next entry in the franchise, which isn't likely to be called Mass Effect 4, had been completed.

Following a fan questioning what the sizeable tome meant for development time, Roy explained that it wouldn't take as long as people feared thanks to the team's decision to borrow a lot of core features from Dragon Age: Inquisition.

@shinobi602 Don't worry: we have a large and talented team, we started a while ago, and we are "borrowing" a lot of game systems from DA3.

@chris23651 @shinobi602 Yes, since we share engine, we can start from some of DA3's core systems instead of from scratch.

Quite what this means isn't clear, but it's good to know that progress is being made on the sci-fi title.
