Ouya Sells Out at Amazon and GameStop in a Day

The Ouya microconsole has sold out at both Gamestop and Amazon, less than a day after being officially launched.

Develop reports that there's currently no news on when fresh stocks of the console may arrive, so anyone still wanting to pick up one of the devices may have to wait a little while.

Customers who pre-ordered the console were told they'd receive an Ouya by March, but many were still waiting yesterday when the open-source device arrived at retail. This caused Ouya founder Julie Uhrman to speak out, declaring she was "pissed" and apologetic about the delayed shipments.

While people are understandably infuriated over missed delivery dates, surely the fact Ouya sold out in under 24 hours is a good sign? Any success here will probably usher in the creation of other devices, which would be certainly bring more freedom of choice to the industry for gamers and developers alike.

Did you manage to get your hands on an Ouya, or are you still waiting? Let us know in the comments.
