Superman Fronts We Can Be Heroes Phase 2

In 2012, DC Entertainment created the We Can Be Heroes campaign, an initiative to raise funds to help fight famine in the Horn of Africa. Then, earlier this year, the company launched an IndieGoGo campaign to help raise even more funds, using Batman-themed goodies as incentives for die-hard comic book fans to donate.

For Phase 2 of their crowd-funding initiative, DC is turning to the Man of Steel for all-new incentives that will help raise even more money for We Can Be Heroes. The Batman campaign garnered over $150,000 for relief -- with Man of Steel on its way to theaters, not to mention the character celebrating his 75th anniversary this year, might Superman help raise even more? The IndieGoGo incentives once again range from $10-$25,000.

“The generosity from the fans of DC Comics during the Batman wave was outstanding and challenged us to create another wave of unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, said Diane Nelson, DC Entertainment President, in a press release . “The first wave of the campaign eclipsed its initial goal of $50,000 in just three days and ultimately raised more than $150,000 in less than six weeks. We continue to be overwhelmed and appreciative of our fans who are helping to make a difference in millions of lives.”

Some of these new Superman-themed incentives are:

  • Signed Superman comics and Man of Steel posters
  • Getting drawn into an issue of Action Comics
  • Superman-themed dream bedroom for kids
  • Beta keys for early access to the upcoming Infinite Crisis game
  • A hometown visit from Jim Lee who will paint a 10x10 mural on a town wall

The campaign is live today on IndieGoGo, so go check out all the other incentives being offered and help out if you can. In addition, you'll be seeing the ad below in your comics in the weeks to come.
