Every day hundreds of new apps make their debut on the App Store, and hundreds more are updated or reduced in price. We have sifted through the noise and highlighted those select few that might be worth your attention. Welcome to the App Store Update, where today we're witnessing an incredibly rare alignment of the planets – five major, AAA titles, several of which we've named to our Top 25 App Store Games list, have all gone free here on the same day. Check out Justin's video above, then get to loading up your iPhones and iPads with these hits:
Tiny Wings – (Free)
First up is Tiny Wings, which is free right now in both small . . .
Tiny Wings HD – (Free)
. . . and large formats.
Where's My Water? – (Free)
Disney's been tinkering with the pricing structure for Where's My Water?, and it's become a free download for the first time today. Paid in-app purchases abound, of course, for a variety of add-on level packs.
Badland – (Free)
Also free for the first time today is Badland, Frogmind's beautiful, atmospheric platformer.
Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP – (Free)
And also also free for the first time today is Superbrothers: Sword & Sorcery EP, a game that earned an incredible 9.5 review rating from us a few years back.
Infinity Blade II – (Free)
And last but absolutely not least is our 2011 Game of the Year, Infinity Blade II, which has also also also gone free today for the first time ever. No better time than now to grab it if you still never have!
Greedy Dwarf – ($0.99)
A lumberjack jumps into a minecart for a high-speed treasure hunt through gold-filled caverns in Crescent Moon Games' latest runner. It looks great, and it makes me think that Disney should snap up this design and re-skin it with Aladdin riding his magic carpet through the Cave of Wonders:
Smooth Operators! – ($2.99)
Bulkypix offers up a sim design that lets you run your own virtual call center.
Finest Hour – ($0.99)
A turn-based strategy game that casts you as a tank commander rolling armored attack vehicles across the European countryside.
That’s it for today! Email subscriptions to the App Store Update are still just one sign-up away, right here:
