God of War: Ascension came exclusively to PlayStation 3 back in March, and it dared tread on unknown territory for the series by including multiplayer functionality. Its online modes have found a faithful following ever since, and now, we’re pleased to reveal for the first time Ascension’s newest multiplayer mode and a set of new maps.
The new multiplayer mode is called Bout of Honor, and it will be included in update 1.09. Bout of Honor is a 1-on-1 mode that pits two online players against each other in a best-of-seven battle to the death. Interestingly, Bout of Honor matches have absolutely no help items available for use, so don’t go looking for fountains, random weapons, or chests. Magic is scarce, and relics are disabled in this mode as well.
Bout of Honor comes toting four brand-new maps specifically catered towards this mode. They’re called Canyons of Kirra, Chamber of the Flame, Landing at Delos, and Streets of Sparta.
Oh, and if you’re interested in playing Favor of the Gods with three of your friends, there’s a new map for you, too. It’s called Whirlpool of Alecto.
