Sony Xperia Z Available July 17 for $99 Down at T-Mobile

Sony's water-resistent flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z, will be available from T-Mobile starting July 17. T-Mobile is named as the exclusive U.S. carrier of the Xperia Z in today's announcement. An up-front payment of $99 at T-Mobile will get you out the door, with 24 subsequent monthly payments of $20 (dependent on credit approval).

Starting on July 16, the Xperia Z is available for pre-order through T-Mobile's site, and doing so will award you a free Sony wireless Bluetooth speaker. Sony is also offering the same free speaker for purchasing the Xperia Z directly from the Sony Store.

Back in May, Sony began selling an unsubsidized version of the Xperia Z in the U.S. for $630. At the time, no network carriers were yet announced, and the handset could only access HSPA+ 3G. The partnership with T-Mobile may help Sony find some additional traction in the competitive smartphone market.
