It looks like the forthcoming reboot of British sci-fi series Blake’s 7 will be heading to Xbox, not the SyFy channel as originally planned.
The cult show – which screened on the BBC between 1978 and 1981 – was set in a future that revolved around a group of criminals and misfits travelling through space, led by political dissident Roj Blake.
The reboot was originally set up at SyFy, but Deadline is reporting that negotiations are under-way for the show to air on Xbox One as part of Microsoft’s efforts to push video on its new console. The company has already announced that it is producing an Halo TV series with the help of Steven Spielberg no less.
Martin Campbell – whose previous credits include Casino Royale and Green Lantern – is attached to direct the pilot.
Chris Tilly is the Entertainment Editor for IGN in the UK and has never seen an episode of Blake's 7 but intends to remedy that before this new version screens. He can be found talking nonsense on both Twitter and MyIGN.
