Motorola Moto X Coming to AT&T August 23rd

AT&T announced today (via CNET) that the Moto X, the new Android phone from Motorola and Google, will be available starting August 23rd. The American-assembled device is touted as the "smartphone that you can design yourself," and AT&T customers will exclusively be the first to have access to Motorola's Moto Maker software, which is used to customized the phone's colors and wallpaper when ordering.

The Moto X also includes a 4.7-inch 720p display, Motorola's X8 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 10-megapixel camera. The device will launch with Android 4.2.2, and includes a number of software features like Touchless Controls and Active Display.

The 16GB Moto X will be sold for $199.99 with a two-year contract, and doubling the storage will set you back $249.99. If purchased using AT&T's Next upgrade program, the phone will cost $27 per month for the 16GB model and $32 per month for the 32GB version. A few customers who previously registered at AT&T's Moto X page will have the opportunity to order and receive their new phone before the general launch.

T-Mobile customers will be able to purchase a network-compatible Moto X phone directly through Motorola. Availability through Verizon and Sprint have yet to be officially announced, but both are rumored to launch the device within the coming weeks as well.
