Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Reveal Scheduled for September 4th

Samsung has sent out invitations for its upcoming Unpacked event, where the company is expected to reveal the Galaxy Note 3. As reported by Engadget, the event is scheduled for September 4th, just before the IFA electronics conference begins in Berlin. Aside from the not-so-subtle "Note the Date" message on the invite, the original Note and the Galaxy Note II were both revealed at the same event in previous years.

So far, Samsung has been able to keep the Note 3's specs under wraps, but rumors suggest that the device may use a 5.7-inch 1080p screen — up from the 5.5-inch 720p display on the Note II — and could possibly be equipped with a new Samsung Exynos or Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. Other speculations include 3GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera, the latter of which is already present on the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Despite its size, Samsung's Note line has proved to be very popular in the past, but now the company's competitors are joining the race to make the biggest and baddest Android smartphone. Earlier this summer, Sony debuted its new 6.4-inch Xperia Z Ultra, and just yesterday HTC hinted towards its yet-to-be-announced One Max, which, like the Galaxy Note 3, is rumored to be unveiled at IFA. Even Samsung itself revealed a few new entries into the growing "phablet" market earlier this year, with the announcement of the 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch Galaxy Mega line.
