Ah the thrill of victory and agony of defeat. Competition is something that has been an integral part of gaming culture since the beginning. Pong had families arguing with each other over games back when it was still cool to have fondue parties (We still say they're cool). As competitive gaming has evolved over the years from playing in basements with friends to playing online with people all over the world, so too has our love for the competitions. There was a time that I fancied myself the greatest Halo player in the entire universe, now I can guarantee I'm not the greatest player on my block. But what of the editors that review these games, or the people that make them? Are their skills up to snuff? Well, we're about to find out.
Starting this Tuesday, we're launching Gameplay Tuesdays. Each week, we'll be pitting two groups head to head in competitive multiplayer games live on IGN. Some weeks we'll be pitting IGN staff vs. developers, others will have us facing off against members of our community, and everything in between.
We're going big for our first episode, pitting IGN staffers Mitch Dyer, Destin Legarie, Alfredo Diaz and Fran Mirabella against Ubisoft Toronto, developers of Splinter Cell: Blacklist. What will our game of choice be? You guessed it, we'll be taking them on in Splinter Cell: Blacklist's Spies Vs. Mercs mode. Can our Canadian (and not so Canadian) heroes defeat the developers of the game? Watch live to find out!
