Left 4 Dead 3 Possible "Down The Road"

Left 4 Dead 3 could apparently still happen in the future, though there's no guarantee that the game will ever be made.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Valve's Chet Faliszek was asked about whether a third instalment in the popular zombie franchise was on the cards.

A 3? You know, some time down the road. Like anything, I would say that to all of our games. So that's not a promise of when or where.

"A 3? You know, some time down the road," he replied. "Like anything, I would say that to all of our games. So that's not a promise of when or where.

"I really love working on that series. It's one of my favourite series. It's just so much fun with the characters and the world. I love zombies and I love horror. So, yeah."

Considering how many copies the Left 4 Dead series has ended up selling worldwide, many would have assumed that a sequel was a foregone conclusion. Talking to VG247, Faliszek put the number at over 12 million, and explained that Valve doesn't believe in relying too much on marketing.

"We just let the game speak for itself because the internet has made this thing where, you can’t pull the wool over people’s eyes any more. They’re going to know you’re hyping.

"But when a game does really well at pre-release, they’re going to know that you’re not just talking a bunch of PR crap. I mean, the Left 4 Dead series has now sold over 12 million copies."

The original Left 4 Dead launched in 2008 on PC and Xbox, before being followed by Left 4 Dead 2 in 2009. Since then, the second game has received several DLC updates, the most recent of which was "Cold Stream" in August.

Sony Contemplating Christmas Vita and PS3 Bundle

Sony has revealed a PS3 and Vita combo bundle is a genuine possibility for this Christmas.

In an interview with CVG, Sony UK head Fergal Gara said that the creation of cross-play meant that it made sense to pair up the two consoles in one retail package.

I think there's scope to have deals where people buy both the Vita and PS3, along with cross-play games and get a discount.

"We'd have nothing against that whatsoever," he revealed. "And it's not out of the question that we would do that this Christmas if we wanted to.

"We put together packages for retail, and there's no reason why we shouldn't create a 'Vita plus PS3' bundle, which could feature games that use cross-play, as well as include a PlayStation Plus subscription that both devices could use."

Gara went on to say that the bundle would underline the connectivity between the two devices, which can function in a similar way to Nintendo's upcoming Wii U.

He explained, "There is really a story there of the two consoles building a partnership. 'Better together', as I say. If we want to continue to promote the partnership between PS3 and Vita, we have to look at ways in which we can show that.

"Is a dual-console bundle box a perfect solution to that? I'm not sure, but I think there's scope to have deals where people buy both the Vita and PS3, along with cross-play games and get a discount."

Ben Affleck Turned Down Daredevil Reboot

Ben Affleck has revealed that he turned down the chance to reprise his role as blind superhero Daredevil in a franchise reboot.

Speaking to MTV, Affleck admitted that he had been approached to star in a new version of the much-maligned 2003 film, but couldn't see how it would make sense.

"They're rebooting it," he explained. "I got contacted about it, and I was like, 'That wouldn't be a reboot [if I was involved],' but I really hope they do a good job, because that's a great property and deserves something really, really good."

He didn't rule out donning spandex again in the future though, admitting, "I would love to do [a comic book movie] if it was the right one, if I thought I could do it well. I think you have to, with any movie, have an idea for it that's original and unique and committed to it, and that's a hard thing to find."

The current status of the Daredevil reboot is pretty murky. While Joe Carnahan was originally down to direct the project for Fox, there's a major hurdle to overcome in the shape of the film's rights returning to Marvel as of October 10. Whether the company will decide to pursue its own reboot once the property returns to its stables remains to be seen.

Affleck also revealed that he definitely won't be directing the forthcoming Justice League of America movie, saying of his wrongly rumoured involvement "I guess I should be flattered, and I'm sure it will be cool. I've seen some of the stuff from the new Superman movie, and that stuff is awesome."
