Cast Your Vote for the Video Game President

After weeks of campaigning and attack ads, it's finally time to cast your vote for the Video Game Presidential Election!

You chose the platform winners and they chose their running mates, but this is the vote that counts the most! Do you think that Nintendo's Link should lead the pack with his "strong, silent" approach (along with his running mate Fox McCloud) or are you more of a fan of the "attack the problem from the rooftops" strategy employed by Ezio and his running mate Lara Croft? Now is the time to sound off once and for all!

So who will win? It's up to YOU to decide! And be sure to keep it locked to our Video Game Presidential Election site for all of your video game election coverage between now and Election Day when we announce the winners!

The Campaign Heads Home in October

Just a few days ahead of the 2012 Presidential election, Warner Home Video will bring The Campaign to Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download October 30. The political mudslinging comedy, from director Jay Roach, received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics (read our review here) and earned just over $85 million in the U.S.

Here's a synopsis of the picture, direct from Warner Bros., "When long-term congressman Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a pair of ultra-wealthy CEOs plot to put up a rival candidate and gain influence over their North Carolina district. Their man: naïve Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis), director of the local Tourism Center.

At first, Marty appears to be the unlikeliest possible choice but, with the help of his new benefactors' support, a cutthroat campaign manager and his family's political connections, he soon becomes a contender who gives the charismatic Cam plenty to worry about. As Election Day closes in, the two are locked in a dead heat, with insults quickly escalating to injury until all they care about is burying each other, in this mud-slinging, back-stabbing, home-wrecking comedy."

The Campaign will come to Blu-ray encoded in 1080p, mixed in 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. The DVD will feature an anamorphic widescreen transfer and 5.1 Dolby Digital audio. The discs will include the following features:

  • Extended Cut with 11 hilarious minutes of added footage
  • Line-O-Rama
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Gag Reel
  • DVD Copy
  • Ultraviolet Copy

With the exception of the deleted scenes and UltraViolet copy of the film, bonus features are exclusive to either the single-disc Blu-ray or Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.

Suggested retail is set at $29.98 for the single-disc Blu-ray, $35.99 for the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and $28.98 for the DVD. Amazon pre-orders are already available. Current prices are $20.99 for the single-disc Blu-ray, $25.19 for the Blu-ray combo pack, and $19.99 for the DVD.

Be on the lookout for a review of The Campaign on Blu-ray this October!

Follow the Presidential Election on Xbox Live

Microsoft has announced Election 2012 on Xbox Live, a hub that will allow players to watch debates and interact with polls, news, analysis and more. NBCNews.com will provide daily coverage that will be accessible from the hub beginning on August 27th with news related to the upcoming Democratic and Republican National Conventions.

Xbox Live will also offer live feeds of both conventions, as well as offering fans the chance to interact with three presidential debates “by responding to poll questions throughout live programming of the debates and other unique election events hosted on Xbox Live throughout the campaign season.”

"We want to provide our passionate Xbox Live community with a great way to experience the election process with TV that makes them participants - and not just viewers," said Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business corporate vice president Marc Whitten. "This is a great example of how our Xbox capabilities are making the promise of interactive television a reality."

Future content on the hub will include youth town hall conversations in Tampa and Charlotte on August 29th and September 5th called “Conversations with the Next Generation.” Microsoft has teamed with nonpartisan, independently funded organization Face The Facts USA for informational videos and Rock the Vote to facilitate voter registration information. More details about Xbox Live’s 2012 election hub is available on Microsoft’s official site.

While you’re checking out Xbox Live’s content, be sure to download IGN’s Xbox Live App for access to videos, live streams and all of the IGN shows you know and love.
