EA has created 300 new jobs at its customer support facility in Galway, Ireland. As announced today, the facility will provide multilingual international customer support for “major game titles” and is being expanded in collaboration with the Irish government. The facility was originally founded as a support center for Star Wars: The Old Republic and known as BioWare Ireland, but EA has confirmed to Gamasutra that this is no longer the case. It will now be known as the EA European Customer Experience Centre.
“The EA European Customer Experience Centre is the focal point of our strategy to serve gamers on a global basis,” said EA COO Peter Moore. “In today’s fast-moving digital environment, we need to engage with our worldwide customer base on a 24/7 basis, across all of EA’s games and services and in multiple languages. Galway’s mix of technology infrastructure and talent availability, combined with a pro-business environment, will help us expand on our existing foundation here. We’re proud to be part of Ireland’s growth into cutting edge digital industries.”
The Irish facility opened in September 2011 and is currently recruiting candidates to fill the new positions. Star Wars: The Old Republic, meanwhile, recently went free-to-play. For more on its future, check out our interview with BioWare Austin general manager Matthew Bromberg.
