Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Reunites Goonies Stars

It's been 27 years since the classic adventure film The Goonies debuted in theaters, and now Nickelodeon's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will reunite two of the film's stars in several upcoming episodes for Season 2.

Corey Feldman recently recorded for the show alongside his Goonies cohort Sean Astin, who voices Raphael. It's still uncertain what role Feldman will play in TMNT, but it's probably a safe bet that his part will intertwine with Raph's. (Might it rhyme with Jasey Cones? Or is it someone else?)

As Feldman noted to TV Guide, the collaboration is one of the first times any of the Goonies kids have worked together since the 1985 film was first released. Said Feldman, "The coolest part is it's two Goonies working together again after all these years. Which is crazy, because we're all such good friends."

It's interesting to note that Feldman, who voiced Donatello in the first and third live-action Ninja Turtles movies, also auditioned for the role of Raphael when the Nick series was casting - although the actor was still reportedly smoking at the time and his voice was deemed too raspy for the gig. Nevertheless, Feldman said there's no hard feelings. "If it was anyone else I would have taken it harder, but I love Sean," Feldman said.

Then, of course, there are always rumblings about a Goonies sequel. And according to Astin, that's still a definite possibility. "It will happen," he said. "I'm 1000 percent certain there will be a sequel. I will bet my children on it."

Feldman, on the other hand, sounded less convinced. "Oh my God," he said. "I am betting no child on this matter."

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles airs Saturdays, at 11/10c on Nickelodeon.
