Arrested Development: George Bluth Sr.'s Best Moments

Listen, modern-day miracles are few and far between, so the fact that Arrested Development is coming back into our lives - via Netflix - should be treated with reverence and respect. Each week here at IGN TV we're bringing you a new Bluth, as little reminders of why this show tops our 25 TV Comedies of All Time list.

And this week belongs to the "lightly treasonous" frito bandito himself, George Bluth, Sr. The man whose creative accounting landed the Bluths in hot water and smack-dab into... the premise of the entire show!

Michael's Best Moments

Lindsay's Best Moments

Maeby's Best Moments

Even though George spent most of the first three seasons imprisoned or on the lam, he was still able to psychologically manipulate all three of his children, pitting them against one another and keeping them in the dark while trying to destroy incriminating evidence.  He also found religion -- twice -- went mad in an attic, ached for a conjugal visit, gave us his own perverse version of a chicken dance... all while looking like the new Pope!

Pope-Pope!

Todo El Estupido Tiempo!

Before George, Sr. ran a housing development company, which may or may not have been contracted to build McMansions for Saddam Hussein, he was down in Mexico, peddling the internationally feared "Cornballer."

Caged Heat

During the first season of Arrested, George was locked up.  And while he reportedly served "hard time," others have suggested that his time in the pen was less life-threatening than originally assumed.

In fact, there were moments when George seemed to fit in a little too well...

But as much as George seemed to acclimate himself to prison life, there were only so many ice cream sandwiches he could make sweet sweet love to with his face.

And it wasn't long before George needed to articulate his particular needs to his most trusted son...

Caged Cryptography

One of the first things George, Sr. tried to do after getting locked up was help out his family, who found themselves in the worst pickle of their lives after the government froze their fortune.  Unfortunately, Michael wasn't understanding the phrase "There's always money in the banana stand" (followed by a whistle-click noise) correctly and wound up torching a considerable amount of cash.

Caged Truth

Maybe it was the isolation, the distance from the outside world, but prison seemed to have a cathartic truth serum effect on George.

Caged Wisdom

Okay, this one's really about CAGED WISDOM!

Only George could manage to turn his time behind bars into both a soul awakening experience and a money-making scheme.  After converting to Judaism, George released a collection of religious discourses and musings about his life-changing imprisonment - complete with informercials.  Where he also hocked banana protein bars.
