Valve-Backed Xi3 Piston Available for Pre-Order

Xi3's Piston console is now available for pre-order on the company's official site.

The Piston will retail for $999.99 with a standard 128GB of internal SSD storage, and can be upgraded to 256GB for an additional $340 or 512GB for an additional $750. The Piston includes 8GB of RAM and a 3.2 GHz quad-core processor and Xi3 expects it to be "shipped in time for the 2013 Holiday Season."

Pre-orders placed between now and the end of the SXSW festival in Austin (which concludes at 11:59 p.m. Central on Sunday, March 17th) will receive a $100 discount off their order.

The Piston was revealed at CES and is backed by Valve as part of its Steam Box initiative (Valve will also manufacture its own hardware soon).
